Hungry Heart – Breakfast

A quick easy breakfast is easy to prepare. Try oatmeal, which is fiber rich and filling. Make it special by adding ½ tsp each of cinnamon, cardamom, turmeric and coriander, with a bit of vanilla and honey, for a chai flavored oatmeal.  Don’t limit yourself to cooked oatmeal. Instead mix the oatmeal with some plain organic yogurt, let it sit for just 5 minutes and enjoy.

If you always find yourself running out the door on an empty stomach (and a hungry heart), make sure to have some berries and nuts on hand. Snacking on full-of-goodness berries and protein rich nuts is a great way to start your day.

Finally, throw these yummy ingredients together and blend until smooth for a Happy Heart Smoothie:

1 banana
1 orange, peeled
1 cup strawberries (or combination of berries)
¼ avocado pitted
2 cups fresh baby spinach
1 Tbs ground flax seed
4 ounces of water
