In my last blog I talked about the hidden and little known epidemic that has infiltrated our environments and is creating havoc with our health. If you have determined that you have a mold issue, you will also need to know how to clean it up and get it out.
Gary Rosen, PhD, has several books about mold remediation, and removing mold from our environments. Another expert on the subject is Doris J. Rapp, MD. She addresses the mold issue in her books Our Toxic World: A WakeUp Call and 32 Tips That Could Save Your Life. Finally, Kurt and Lee Ann Billings’ book titled Mold: The War Within, is a wonderful resource.
One of the most notable mold cleaners is Thieves Cleaner. You may have heard of Thieves essential oil offered by Young Living Oils. The oil “was created from research about four thieves during the 15th-century plague who used cloves, rosemary, and other aromatics to protect themselves while robbing plague victims.” These “thieves” did not get sick due to the powerful combination of ingredients! This same combination is amazing in cleaning up mold. Studies show that the cleaner made from Thieves is also safe and long-lasting. Yes, it is a bit on the expensive side, but one bottle goes a long way as it is concentrated. For some other mold killing recipes, go here.
I have a friend whose house is on a lake; mold is a constant issue. She has used Thieves Cleaner successfully to mop up the mold and keep it away. She also recommends placing Moisture Absorbers in the damp places of the home, especially the basement area. These small and inexpensive absorbers are easy to hide and can last up to 60 days, sopping up all the moisture that is sure to create future mold.
Do not allow mold to overtake your home and health!
