If you are planning on traveling during your spring or Easter breaks, take note; be aware of the likelihood of germs. There are a number of things you can do to keep yourself and your family safe and healthy while traveling.
First, keep in mind that airplanes are a haven for germs. Flight attendants do a basic cleaning in between flights, but their many other duties, along with back to back flight schedules, do not allow for a major wipe down. Tray tables could use a good sanitary cleaning, so make sure to carry cleaning wipes with you. Cleaning wipes also come in handy for use in the airplanes bathroom, both toilet seat and door.
While in the plane, make sure to store what you need in your carry on. Do not store anything in the seat pockets. Think of the food wrappers and used tissues that may have resided there before you boarded. Enough said!
Although I do not agree with anti-bacterial everything, a small bottle of hand sanitizing gel can come in quite handy when traveling. Thieves essential oil is amazing, the magical mixture is also used in a sanitizing gel. Get a bottle and bring it along.
A few weeks before travel, support your immune system by increasing your intake of vitamins C, E and zinc. Plus, make sure to stay hydrated. Dehydration will break down your immune system, make sure to drink plenty of water before, during and after the flight. Only drink bottled water while traveling to ensure that your water is safe and clean.
Washing your hands often is an easy and effective way to avoid germs. Cleaning out the nasal passages with a salt solution is another great idea. Check out Nasopure. This system is far easier to use than a neti pot and the salt/baking soda mix is ideal. The bottle is small enough for travel and, since it was designed by a pediatrician, it is easy for children to use as well.
Be safe and germ free and avoid infection during your travels!
