Naturally Dyed Eggs

The Easter Bunny will be hoppin’ your way this weekend. Try something new this year! How about mixing things up a bit by using natural dyes to create gorgeous eggs. The Easter Bunny will be so impressed!

It is much easier than you may think. Simply add some naturally colorful ingredients to water you will be using to hard boil the eggs. Here is a list of vibrant ingredients to add:

Blue Eggs: add some blueberries to the boiling water

Purple Eggs: add red wine to the boiling water

Red or Pink Eggs: boil with beets or in cranberry juice

Yellow Eggs: add some saffron to the water

Brown Eggs: boil the eggs in coffee

For decorating, consider using natural choices like uncooked noodles, uncooked beans or small candies. Use a small bit of glue to apply. You can also use items that may otherwise be thrown away like small scraps or material, ribbons or buttons. Let your imagination go wild!

Regardless of what you use to decorate your eggs, we want to see your creative talents at work. Be sure to post your Easter egg pictures on my Facebook page!
